The proposal was greeted with broad support among the citizens and politicians of the city. The fundamental aim was to achieve an area of urbanity.
The facades, which form the square, are highlighted in the planning.
The whole market area is surrounded by stairs which can also be used as seating
steps.
The square, with its polygonal structure is carved out as the centre point using line structures in the stone pattern.
The buildings forming the boundary are in part successfully newly renovated. The old market is in the meantime a popular feature identified with the upper town of Siegen.
